In a year that saw the tourism industry gradually recover from the abyss it fell into in the recession years, some markets surpassed every analyst’s expectation, drawing more travelers of all kinds into their fast-changing environs with an aggressive push to get back on track. After New York and Chicago, Southern California experienced near double digit growth in REVPAR (Revenue Per Available Room–an industry benchmark indicator). Propelled by major tourist attractions, beaches, convention centers, trade shows and new-age businesses, Los Angeles and San Diego witnessed an uptrend in demand. Meanwhile, nestled between the populous L.A. And the vastness of San Diego, the Inland Valley, which saw the sharpest decline during the recession, had somehow managed to come back faster than its geographical counterpart, Orange county. When I recently opened a new chiropractic clinic in town, I discovered that Temecula has all of the resources necessary for starting a new business. I got great advice from local attorneys, accountants, and real estate brokers which helped me lower our start-up costs and monthly overhead. The Valley Young Professionals have completed its third annual room re-decorating project for two students at Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment & the Arts in Murrieta.
Members of the group, a division of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce, worked together gathering donations and raising funds throughout the year to turn the student residence into a Chargers-themed room over a two-day period.
